The Best Robot Hoover
The best robot hoover can mop and vacuum without needing your attention, and will leave your floors clean. Its low cost and top-of-the-line features (such as dirt detector) are a plus.
Make sure to check your robot's brushes regularly for tangled debris and hair. Wash them if needed. Some models can also self-empty the onboard dustbin and deposit it in a larger bin located at the base. This helps reduce the amount of fine dust released into the air.
1. Roomba Q5 Pro
The Q5 Pro, and its more expensive sibling, the Q7 Max Series are among the most powerful robotic vacuums we've tested. They are equipped with top-of-the-line motors which can pull up to 5,500 Pascals of suction force. As with other premium iRobot models (including the top pick), they use smart mapping technology to create detailed floor plans and avoid common obstacles like cords and furniture legs. They also have carpet boost which boosts the robot's power when it detects the presence of dirt on the carpet, allowing it cleaned up quickly.
The Q5 and Q7 Max Series both scored very well in our tests of floors with no carpet They are also adept in removing hair from dogs. However, they have some flaws that prevent them from being our top choice. For instance, the Q5's navigation doesn't feature AI-powered obstacle avoidance technology, so it's prone to become entangled in shoes and socks and can't navigate tightly packed rooms very efficiently in our tests. It also doesn't have a camera to see around corners.
It's still a good value for those whose office or home has a lot of unfinished floors and you're looking to save money. It's also extremely quiet and works while you're at work or school. The only thing it lacks that you don't get in the more expensive iRobot Roomba X30 is edge-to-edge vacuuming on floors that aren't clean. It's also less effective at mopping, using disposable wet wipes, which don't stick on well and aren't able to handle dried-on debris. The Q5 has a self-emptying dock, though. If you're required to mop, the mopping pad can be swapped for a wet one in just a few seconds.
2. IRobot Roomba
The iRobot Roomba X30 is a compact elegant vacuum cleaner that can also mop floors. Its smart cleaning maps and quick navigation make it easy to clean, and effective in dealing with larger particles such as pet hair. It also comes with an impressive suction system and self-emptying bin. It's the most efficient robotic hoover for carpets but it isn't as effective as some of its competitors in terms of deep cleaning.
This high-performing combination vacuum and mop makes use of advanced sensors to dodge obstacles and pet waste and it learns the layout of your home over time to ensure more efficient cleaning. You can change the schedule of cleaning and even customize zones with the well-designed app. It has a battery life that is similar to other models.
If the X30 Ultra is in a carpeted space, you can tell it to take off and extend its mops. This will help prevent cross-contamination. Its flex arm can also be utilized to reach under furniture with low levels and along baseboards. It's not as effective on the washboard as our other Editors' Choice Picks, the Ecovacs Ozmo N8Pro+ and the iRobot Combo j9+.
During testing, the X30 Ultra was the fastest robot vacuum/mop in the market to clean the entire house with the battery at 66 percent left. It did a great cleaning job on different rooms and floors with various flooring types, including some area rugs. Its obstacle detection was top-notch, and it nimbly avoided fake dog socks, turds, shoes, and bundles of cables.
It's more expensive than iRobot Combo v9+ or iRobot Roomba j9+ but has superior suction and an onboard bin that automatically empties into the base. It also supports voice commands using Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant. It can clean the floor even after it has vacuumed. This is something we haven't seen in other robotic vacuum/mop combinations.
3. Roomba X40 from iRobot
With a sleek circular design that looks more like a normal Roomba than the competition's boxes This robot vacuum and mop combo is one of the most appealing looking in our tests. The newest model from iRobot is its most advanced model, with features that are cutting-edge like Enhanced Dirt Detection Technology and future compatibility with Matter (another company's robot that can autonomously wash mop pads).
It's also the only robotic vacuum/mop that scored an absolute 10 out of 10 in our tests. This is thanks to a mix of modern sensors, including a restructured light system, a camera, and a variety of lasers. cheap robot vacuum cleaner was the only robot we tested that could refill and empty its basestation on its own. It also boasted a suction of 12,000Pa as well as self-cleaning mops.
Like other iRobot models, the X40 is user-friendly, with an easy mobile app interface, and integration with Amazon Alexa, Apple HomeKit as well as Google Assistant. The only drawback is that the X40 still a loud unit. This could be a problem in mornings prior to work or at night when you are trying to fall asleep.
It's also a bit expensive but not as much as the Ecovacs MaxV Ultra or Roborock S8 Omni, which are both equally impressive and attractive. If you're willing to live with a bit more noise and some extra cost this is a powerful two-in-one that will please almost everyone.
4. iRobot Roomba L20 Ultra
The L20 Ultra is the top-of-the best robot mop and vacuum. It comes with a variety of advanced features that make you forget about your chores. The L20 Ultra is a hands-free cleaning device, similar to Ecovacs top-of-the-line X2 Omni or Roborock's S8 Pro Ultra. It features a multi-functional dock that can automatically empty the vacuum's bin and refills the water tank, as well as washes and dry mop pads.
The smart robot makes use of the combination of LIDAR and structured light to create the floor plan and detect obstacles, navigating more intelligently than some of its premium competitors. It also comes with a front-mounted camera to detect hazards in real-time but this was not foolproof in our testing and was often confused by power cords or other obstructions.
The vacuum cleaner comes with an maximum suction of 7,000 Pascals which is more than sufficient to complete the task. It also has an option called "Intelligent Dirt Detection", that regulates the vacuum's power and adjusts cleaning frequency for various areas of the house based on how dirty those areas tend to be.

If you have a larger home, you should consider selecting a model with a spot or zone cleaning mode. This allows you to inform the robot of which area of your house needs to be cleaned using the app or voice command. A stair mode can be beneficial if you have large furniture. For busy families, a recharge function and resume feature that permits your robot vacuum to resume where it left off can be very useful.
iRobot RX3
The RX3 is more intelligent than its price suggests. It has a great vacuuming performance, picking up 55% debris in our tests. (It was second to the Roomba Q5 Pro). It also mops with a single pad and a reciprocating movement that is more efficient than most mop cleaners for robots that we've tested. It's self-sufficient too, with a full-featured app and an auto-emptying washable base.
The well-designed iRobot app will guide you through a mapping session that collects data about your floorplan and any "no-go" areas you have marked on the map. It can be used to design cleaning schedules, or to create an automatic spot-clean. You can also use it to prioritize the most soiled areas for greater efficiency. The app offers a variety of options, including seasonal suggestions, custom mapping and advanced cleaning settings.
Its shape is more rectangular than most other robot vacuums, meaning it can reach corners and underneath furniture better. It is equipped with an impressive 8,000 Pascal suction, as well as sophisticated combs that remove pet hair. And you can set up a spot cleaning that intensely cleans a localized area.
The Miele Scout RX3 Home Vision HD is a sleeker and less expensive alternative to the iRobot Roomba. It's got a more attractive style, much like Dolce & Gabbana. The twin cameras are designed like adorable eyes. It is capable of vacuuming, but is more prone to getting caught on low thresholds and is more noisy than the other top robotic vacuums we've tested. It also has a less user-friendly app and a tiny base station that can't be used as an emptying bin.
